Yaroslava Bortsova
Biography
My name is Yaroslava Bortsova, and I was born in Crimea. My art is inspired by the rich nature and culture of Crimea, and it represents a continuous experiment born from the experience and skills I have developed over the years in various art forms. I have explored many different directions in art and creativity, but ultimately, I became so captivated by working with clay that I returned to ceramics after many years. Ceramics is a harmonious interplay of the four elements—earth, water, air, and fire. When I work with clay, it feels as if I am part of the creation process, much like how God shaped humanity and the world on the potter’s wheel. In the beginning, clay is a wet mass in your hands, but over time, it starts to take shape. The most magical and thrilling moment is when you open the kiln and discover what the fire has done to the form, regardless of the artist’s original intention.
